Reaching de frontier: How to achieve success with the ERC

The European Research Council (ERC) is a powerful mechanism to drive research of excellence and its establishment has brought with it huge potential and huge expectations. The first call in 2007 was met with a staggering 9167 applications for 250 grants available. With such steep competition, what are the factors that make the difference? Which characteristics must a researcher have to tap into this important resource? What role do universities, research institutes, regions and governments play and how can they contribute to chances for success?

The aim of this Barcelona BioMed Forum is to bring together key players from the ERC, together with local and national science policy makers, as well as researchers who have received ERC grants to examine the factors that have enabled them to take advantage of this important resource.

There is no registration fee, but participants must register by Thursday, May 20. All sessions will take place in English.
